"Dropping a pin" is when you mark the location of your destination on your phone's map app. Then the app charts a route from your location to the pinned destination, then gives you step by step instruction on how to get there.
I know people who LITERALLY have no idea where they are most of the time or how they got there because they overly rely on their phones to navigate the world for them. This cartoon is just an extreme version of the phenomenon.
